Exactly two months after bagging the prestigious Outstanding Filipino Research Leader 2012 Award from the World Research Festival 2012 at Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines, Dr. Renan P. Limjuco, a UIC Engineering Faculty Researcher and Research Director, was awarded as GLOBE’S OUTSTANDING FILIPINO RESEARCHER 2012 by the Search Committee and the Board of Judges for the Global Conference on Education, Business, Engineering, and Sciences 2012 (GCEBES 2012). This recognition was given on Day 3, October 26, 2012 at the Level 3, Hibiscus 3713 of the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore, where the global research conference was held from October 24 - 26, 2012.

This particular study centers on the geometries of Platonic solids and their relevance to some probabilistic situations. Despite the nature of the topics which are abstract and mathematical, Dr. Limjuco succeeded in making his talk highly conversational and easy to follow to the delight of the other international researchers.
The GCEBES 2012 was attended by 41 international researchers from various countries of the world such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, and South Africa. With the theme “The Role of Education, Business, Engineering and the Sciences in Building a New Knowledge Economy,” the conference was highlighted by the keynote speech of Dr. Tatik Suryani, entitled “The Strategic Value of Multidisciplinary Research and How to Leverage it in Higher Education.” As mentioned in her paper, “with the trend in business research which is becoming more competitive and complex, multidisciplinary research is seen as an appropriate means to solve problems surrounding such complexity because this type of research is more comprehensive in providing solutions.” This thesis acted as the unifying element that defines the diversity of the topics in the global conference.
