The University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) scored 10 high distinction awards during the World Research Festival (WRF) 2013 joined in by nearly 100 organizations from different parts of the world held at Marco Polo Hotel, May 1-4.

For starters, four UIC Professors received the World Publication Awards 2013 for having published full journal articles in the International Association of Multidisciplinary Research (IAMURE) Journal. They are Dr. Renan Limjuco, Platinum Award (4 journal articles); Prof. Emma Sagarino, Silver Award (2 articles); and Pearl Award (1 article) each for Profs. Neil Capricho and Mona Laya.

The next feat, World’s Best Abstract Award 2013, recognizes three UIC professors’ “global achievement in writing an abstract that highly complied with the international scientific writing standards leading to the clarity of content in terms of title, chief purpose, methods, results and discussion, and conclusion…making them excellent role models for conference oral presenters across the world.” They are Prof. Maribeth Galindo (Health Education Category), Prof. Neil Capricho (Mathematics, Engineering & Technology Category), and Prof. Mary Jane Barluado (Clinical Laboratory Category), whose works bested ~300 other submissions from various disciplines.

The major award Outstanding World Research Leader 2013 was bagged by UIC Research Director Dr. Renan Limjuco for his “exemplary and altruistic contribution to research through international journal publications, leadership in establishing and sustaining a research culture, in nourishing and mentoring researchers…making him a model for researchers across the world.” For his leadership achievement in the productivity and impact of faculty research publications, Dr. Limjuco also bagged the World Publication Productivity Award 2013.

Most importantly, in recognition of UIC’s research achievements “in terms of dissemination and exchange of scientific information and best practices in research and publication,” the prestigious World Research Productivity Award 2013 was conferred to the University President S. Ma. Marissa Viri, rvm, who in her WRF speech said that “research should improve the quality of life and not destroy humanity, and that amidst pressing universal issues threatening civilization, there is hope in advanced technology research racing with time in shaping the destiny of the human race for sustainability.”
