Thirty-four college students from St. Mary’s College Baganga (SMCB) met their foster parents in Davao City in a turnover ceremony last February 2, 2013 at the UIC St. Cecilia Music Hall, Fr. Selga Campus.
During the ceremony, S. Ma. Jesusita Bernate, RVM, President of St. Mary’s College Baganga, formally introduced and handed over the care of the students to S. Ma. Matilde Omandac, RVM, Local Superior of UIC-RVM community, who accepted the responsibility in behalf of the foster parents.
In her turnover speech, S. Bernate expressed her gratitude to the RVM community and to the foster parents for extending their generosity to the students who were victims of Typhoon Pablo which hit Baganga last December 2012.
The graduating students taking up Hotel and Restaurant Servicing and Computer Hardware Servicing II will be in the hands of some Couples for Christ members and some grade school teachers who volunteered to house them. They will stay for a month-long period to finish their on-the-job training requirement in their respective wokplaces here in the city.
Engr. Reynaldo Deypalubos, a college faculty member, represented the Couples for Christ community together with Mrs. Anaflor Sacopayo, Office of the Student Affairs and Discipline secretary, from the college department. Meanwhile, grade school faculty members were Delia Jarina, Nora Albores and Nida Matutino. Nerio Orlain, Jr., a volunteer, also housed some students.
The Collegiate Immaculate’s (TCI) Editorial Board organized the event for the RVM congregation. TCI is the official student publication of the university’s college department.
