The University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC)Pharmacy Department flew all the way from Davao to join the activities of the 2014 National Pharmacy Week in University of Perpetual Help Las Piñas – DALTA (UPHSD) Campus last December 3, 2014.

This year’s annual event included the Debacle (debate competition), National Pharmacy Quiz Bee, and the Patient Counseling contests.

The representatives of UIC for the Debacle competition tackled pressing issues of the Pharmacy profession in a British Parliamentary format debate. John Robert Omandac and Patricia Monique Gonzales earned the lauds of the judges as they were awarded with Best Speaker and 2nd Best Speaker merits respectively.

The National Pharmacy Quiz Bee featured questions from actual pharmacy practice. The event was divided into an elimination round composed of 35 questions and a final round with 10 questions. Though UIC’s participants namely, Meshelyn Ibut, Norlyn Gampong, Arvin Domingo and Jaycerie Joy Amar fell short of advancing to the final round, the team eventually placed sixth out of 17 participating schools nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Patient Counseling competition was joined by 17 schools. Luis Rolando Manicdao and Kareena Cacho were the UIC representatives.

All teams were coached by professors Vivien Leigh Pasicolan and Joan Santillana.

The annual event organized by the Federation of Junior Chapters of the Philippine Pharmacists Association (FJCPPhA) ushered the theme, “ASEAN Integration: Roadmap to Uplifting the Philippine Pharmacy Profession.”
